An instrumental player in the launch of the BBC’s digital offering, Tamara recognised the potential of social media engagement for brands and set off to launch The Social Element (formerly Emoderation) in 2002, before the explosion of social media. She is a strong advocate for diversity in the workplace and a regular contributor to the media (AdWeek, BBC, The Guardian) on topics related to online customer care, digital safety and brand loyalty. Tamara has been known to travel for food and karaoke venues.

The Social Element manages social media for the world’s biggest brands and has 350 people all working remotely around the world with twenty of them going into the physical London office. Managing remote teams has many advantages but it also some challenges too. Tamara will share her story of running a company for 15 years that does things very differently with a focus on managing the company culture, staff engagement and driving innovation when everyone works in different time zones and locations.
